GVHS Band Members Perform at Temple University

On Sunday, Dec. 2, members of the Garnet Valley High School Band spent an afternoon at Temple University and performed a concert on stage with the Temple University Night Owls Community Concert Band. Professor of Music Education Dr. Deborah Confredo, director of the Night Owls, invited our students to perform alongside the University Band on their Winter Concert. The students played four songs with the Night Owls: A Tribute to Dave Brubeck, Crush, A Night at the Movies, and the holiday classic Sleighride by Leroy Anderson.

During some free time prior to the concert, Dr. Selfridge led the students on a tour of the campus. When the group stopped in the Student Activities Center, they were pleasantly surprised to bump into two recent GV music grads Jared Schwartz and Jessica Lavender! Jared currently plays drums in the Temple Marching Band.

It was a great day and a wonderful experience for our students. The Garnet Valley Music Department thanks Dr. Deborah Confredo, the Temple University Night Owls, and the Boyer College of Music for this opportunity.
