The Garnet Valley High School Choral Program brings students together through the shared joy of singing. It is a place to develop your voice, explore a wide range of music, perform with confidence, and be part of an ensemble where every singer contributes. Whether students have sung for years or are ready to explore singing in a new way, Chorus offers meaningful musical experiences and a place to belong.

Our Core Classes

CONCERT CHOIR and MASTER SINGERS are at the heart of the GVHS Chorus Program. These curricular classes meet during the school day and give students daily opportunities to develop vocal skills, musicianship, and performance experience.
 

CONCERT CHOIR is our regular-level curricular ensemble for students in grades 9–12. Students develop healthy vocal technique, sight-reading, music theory, and performance skills while singing a wide variety of choral music, including classical, pop, Broadway, and music from around the world. Concert Choir performs at two concerts each year, along with field trips and special appearances in the community.
 

MASTER SINGERS is our honors-performing ensemble for students in grades 10–12 who have advanced vocal skills and successfully complete an audition. Students continue to develop their musicianship through advanced choral repertoire, vocal training, sight-reading, and the study of musical elements such as form and text. Master Singers performs at concerts, special appearances, field trips, and competitions throughout the year.

Beyond the Classroom

Growing out of these core classes, students can take part in additional vocal ensembles and performance opportunities.
 

MEN’S ENSEMBLE and WOMEN’S ENSEMBLE are student-led vocal groups that meet during Lunch/Learn periods. These ensembles give students a relaxed, enjoyable way to sing with friends and perform additional music outside of class.

THE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL is another exciting opportunity for student performers through the Garnet Valley Performing Arts Association (GVPAA). Students interested in participating in the high school musical are strongly encouraged to enroll in Chorus, where they can develop the singing skills and confidence that support success on stage.
