GVHS Students Among Top Musicians in Delco

On Saturday, November 17, 2018, hundreds of students from across Delaware County gathered at Rustin High School to audition for the PMEA District 12 Band, Orchestra, and Chorus. Garnet Valley High School had a GREAT showing this year, with nine students earning placement in these elite groups.. Congratulations to the following GVHS students for being among the best of their peers in our county:

District Chorus: Alicia Bartosik (soprano), Christian Guthrie (bass), Luke Taylor (bass)

District Band: Alyssa Manzano (flute), Bryan Manzano (french horn), Tom Pulcinella (trumpet), Emma Rolecki (alto sax), Rishi Vyas (trumpet)

District Orchestra: Jonathan He (viola), Jeffrey Lin (cello), Alyssa Manzano (flute), Bryan Manzano (french horn), Tom Pulcinella (trumpet)

Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA), District Ensembles are the “all-star team” for high school music programs in our area. Garnet Valley has a proud tradition of students participating in these elite groups every year. Students in grades 10-12 can earn a spot in this ensemble by audition. Once selected, students participate in a three-day festival in which they rehearse with a professional guest conductor and perform a concert. The most outstanding musicians in Districts can go on to earn a spot in Regional and even All-State. As with past years, we expect several of our GV students to continue on to all-state ensembles. Go Jags!
